Adding Custom PHP Without Changing Your Child Theme

Your theme might have been packaged with several already customized child themes. If you are already using one of these child themes and you don’t want to edit its files by fear of losing your customizations in a future update, we recommend to add snippets in the admin panel of WordPress with the Code Snippets plugin.

Once the plugin installed, just visit Snippets > Add New. Name your snippet and enter or paste the provided code.

Most of the time, you will only need to execute the provided code snippet during the display of your website pages. Just select the “Only run on site front-end” option and hit the “Save Changes and Activate” button. But if you’re not sure or you have an issue with your snippet, you can just leave the “Run snippet everywhere” checked.

The following video tutorial shows how you can edit the BuddyPress configuration with Code Snippets.
